The Faculty of Physical Science consists of four departments namely, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Mathematics and Department of Forensic Science. In the academic year 2014-15 the faculty started its academic activity with undergraduate course B.Sc (Non-medical). In the subsequent year, one undergraduate course B.Sc (Hons in Mathematics) and three postgraduate courses M.Sc (Physics), M.Sc (Chemistry) and M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics) were started.
At present, the faculty has 29 full-time faculty members consisting of 6 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, and 20 Assistant Professors. It is due to the dedicated efforts of the faculty members, valuable guidance of the distinguished personalities, timely support of University authorities and un-quenching curiosity and enthusiasm of students, that the faculty is progressing to make on National and International arena in its academic pursuits and frontline research. With this enthusiasm, the faculty introduced new courses, B.Sc.(Forensic Science), M.Sc. (Forensic Science), M.Sc. (Nanoscience & Nanotechnology) and Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics from the academic session 2017-18.
The maximum faculties in the Faculty of Physical Science are doctorate. More than half of the faculties have good number of years as International exposure in various Universities & Research & Development Organizations of the USA and Europe like UTA, Texas, USA, Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, Leningrad, USSR, University of Massachusetts, USA, Korea Institute of Energy Research, Taejon, South Korea, etc. Therefore under the guidance of these august faculties, the students of the Faculty of Physical Science will be better oriented to understand the recent trends in Research & Development.
Since time immemorial to today’s modern world, the pursuit of mankind is almost same but in the process of coming of age we have gathered enormous information & knowledge about the matter and in addition to this now we are in a better position than how properties of matter can be exploited for the benefits of mankind. Therefore the science or information that has been gathered along this journey is known as Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics (Subjects of Physical Science). Even the most sought after technologies in the modern world bearing an altogether different nomenclature have the same progenitor i.e. Chemistry and Physics. For the invention and innovation of existing & new technologies, the knowledge of chemistry and physics is not only a prelude but it also gives clues for altogether new thinking platform to achieve the objectives in research & technologies.
