An Expert Talk on “Materials Engineering: An Integral Part of Interdisciplinary Research” was organized by Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Surinder Pal Singh, Principal Scientist & Head, BhartiyaNirdeshakDravya (Indian Reference Materials) Management Section, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, Dr K. S. Krishnan Marg, New Delhi.
Dr. Singh discussed the importance of measurement and calibration of units in research and development and the role of CSIR-NPL as a statutory body of India. He also explored the nanoworld, materials and their properties at the Nano scale, current understanding and applications of nano-materials in various aspects like biosensors, biomedical applications like drug delivery, Treatment of head and neck cancer etc., graphene oxide and their industrial applications. More than 150 no of students and faculty members interacted with Dr. Singh in this event and got interesting ideas.
