Faculty of Science organized a three day long induction program to welcome all the new students of 2019-20 batches. Induction program provides the students a platform to know their University courses, rules and regulations before the official class begins. The program was inaugurated by a Sanskrit shloka which says that absence of knowledge is darkness and knowledge is illumination. Prof. Rakesh Dube, Dean of Faculty of Science delivered a welcome speech for the newly added members of SGT University informing them about the University, departments courses and the research initiatives(synergy) taken by the University. After the inspiring speech of Dean, FOSC, Hods of five departments Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Forensic Sc. and Environmental Sc. introduced their departments to the students. The students also got information about the curriculum, ordinance and anti-ragging committee from the speakers of FOSC. They showed a lot of enthusiasm during the interactive introduction session. The program ended with university visit accompanied by some of the faculty members of FOSC.
The second day of Induction Program started with the information regarding dress code and anti-ragging committee by Dr. Santosh Dixit. It was followed by a session of Ice- breaking activities. After the activities students were provided information about various recreational societies present in the University by Cultural faculties from the University. A motivational talk by Dr. Asha, Head of Psychology department, CFSL, New Delhi was delivered to enlighten the students. Dr. Manbir Singh gave presentation on Mentor-Mentee program. After lunch, the students were given information on Internship and placement by Dr. Nutan Sharma, Synergy by Dr Achana Chaudhary and ERP BY Mr. Hanumant Negi.
In continuation of the Induction program, at the Faculty of Science students were informed the details about the Faculty of Science followed by presentations on departmental club associations and science associations. A motivational talk on Soft skills was given by Ms. Meenu Chopra. After lunch, students were made aware about cultural activities and later students were taken for university visit and simulation lab. Overall students had a great experience and enjoyed the program.
Induction Program Trip to Sanganer, Rajasthan
As a part of Induction program FOSC took their students to SANGANER Jaipur, a busy sub-urban hub of craft workshops where local artisans sell traditional Bagru textile prints and handmade paper. Students had an experience to explore the various techniques of block printing and screen printing with dyes. They were explained the theory behind the application of dyes and Golden Ratio.
Then they were taken to the Hawa Mahal the heart of the City’s attraction. Hawa Mahal is a beautiful palace made with red and pink sandstones. Students also enjoyed photography and shopping near Jal Mahal where there is a beautiful palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake. Overall it was a great experience of learning, joy and bonding among the new students.
