Faculty of Science, SGT University celebrated the “International Women’s Day-2022” to pay tribute to all the women for tirelessly working for humankind and to spread a message about the cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements of women. National Women’s Day- 2022 was celebrated following the theme entitled “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”.
We feel so privileged that we celebrated this National Women’s Day in the gracious presence of the Chief Guest of the event, Mrs. Madhupreet Chawla, Honourable Chairperson, SGT University, Guest of Honour; Dr. Aparna Dhawan, Executive Director, TIC Council, Gurugram, Prof. (Dr.) O. P. Kalra, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, SGT University, Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Kuhad, Honourable Pro-Chancellor, SGT University, Prof. (Dr.) Navdeep Singh Tung, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SGT University, Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Dhawan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SGT University, and Invited Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Bindoo Yadav, Head of Department, Department of Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, SGT University.
The event was started with the introduction note delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Lakhwinder Singh, Dean, Faculty of Science, SGT University. He introduced the audience to the theme of International Women’s Day-2022 and welcomed the esteemed and prestigious guests. He filled the students with enthusiasm.
All the dignitaries, prestigious guests, faculty members, and student’s representatives were welcomed on the stage for the Lamp Lightning to inaugurate the event with auspicious Saraswati Mantra for the spiritual reverberations of positive energy.
Prof. (Dr.) O. P. Kalra, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, SGT University, addressed the audience with his kind words on the importance of Women’s Day. He mentioned the statistics to mark a call to a gender-equal world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.
The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Invited Guest Speaker were facilitated with the gifts as a token of respect and love by the dignitaries to celebrate their gracious presence and achievements on this auspicious occasion.
Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Kuhad, Honourable Pro-Chancellor, SGT University enlightened the audience that how women’s strength coexisted with the restrictions on freedom and economic rights. He explained the share of barriers, suppression with regards to gender biases. He explained how women in India stand as the backbone of the family for ages even after the suppression of old traditions and conventional beliefs. He gracefully mentioned the strengths and capabilities of women.
Prof. (Dr.) Navdeep Singh Tung, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SGT University, interacted with the audience and shared his personal experiences of women’s empowerment and their struggles. He mentioned how today’s women are equally educated and enlightened, which led to the emancipation and empowerment of women. He shared the example of Sophia Duleep Singh, who fought for British women – for their democracy and the right to vote.
Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Dhawan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SGT University, delivered his amazing thoughts on the real essence of women’s day. He mentioned how women need to be treated at workplaces & homes, and how their achievements should be recognized and celebrated with pride and honor.
Invited Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Bindoo Yadav, Head of Department, Department of Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, SGT University, delivered the beautiful lecture on women’s achievements and international recognition at various platforms involving social, economic, political, and academic. She shared the examples of various renowned women who have achieved international recognition for their priceless contributions in their respective domains.
All the dignitaries, prestigious guests, faculty members, and students’ representatives were welcomed on the stage for the cake-cutting ceremony.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Aparna Dhawan, Executive Director, TIC Council, Gurugram, delivered an interactive session on “Gender Equality in Professional Life” following the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. She explained how women are increasingly being recognized as more adaptive to different environments impacts than men. She mentioned how women are inbuilt with multi-tasking, leadership, and sustainable approach with regards to their mental conditioning since childhood.
Fun events were also organized for the female faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff for celebrating their hard work and achievements. Games like chit-based-on-the-spot activities involving dancing, singing, mimicry, acting, etc were organized to create a happy, exciting and cheerful environment. All the female faculty members, non-teaching staff were facilitated with the gifts as a token of respect and love.
Mr. Anjaneyulu Bendi, Head of Department, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, SGT University, extended the heartfelt vote of thanks to the invited speakers, dignitaries, and audience for gracing the occasion with their auspicious presence.
Delicious snacks and lunch were organized for everyone who attended the event. Everyone had a gala time and the event went successful. It was truly a day to remember.
