Faculty of Science (FOSC), SGT University celebrated International Women’s Day on 08th March 2021 at Main Auditorium, Block-C, SGT University. Mrs. Madhupreet Kaur Chawla, Chairperson & Managing Director, SGT University presided on the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Bulbul Dhar-James, Professor, Department of Political Science and Former Director, Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi graced the occasion as Guest of Honour for the day. Ms. Astha Dhingra, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, was the special invitee of the day. The function began with welcome of Hon’ble Guests, respectable Vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, respectable Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Dhawan, Dean FOSC, Various HoDs, Faculty Members and students by the organizing committee. Welcome address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Lakhwinder Singh, Dean FOSC, which was followed by the addressesof worthy Vice Chancellor, and respectable Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics) who mesmerized the audience with their inspirational words about women in leadership.
Special talk by Dr. Bulbul Dhar-James entitled, “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world”, was very interesting and an eye opener for every male dominated society. She showed very interesting data compilations and facts about the services rendered by the women during on-going Covid-19 pandemic and the leadership skills that the women have exhibited to win the race against Covid-19 in many countries. Similarly, the small talk and interactive session by Ms. Astha Gill left the audiences astounded when they were made to meditate, visualize and possibly forgive some important person who ever has annoyed you. This is something which almost every woman practices in her life that she forgives many mistakes committed by others. Many interesting and tricky games were played to pep up the environment. All the distinguished guests, special invitees and women from Faculty of Science were felicitated with tokens of respect. At the end, Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Anjaneyulu Bendi, Assistant Professor FOSC. The day was enthusiastically great as well as full of information and excitement!!
